The
Student Recreation Center opened in January of 1987, and underwent an $8
million expansion in 1999. All Southeast students can access the 90,000 square foot
facility by showing their student ID. Recreational
Sports offers a wide variety of programs and services to students.
The
Rec Center includes: five full-size basketball and volleyball courts, six
racquetball courts, a four lane track, 4300 square feet of weight room, and
cardio equipment, a lounge area, dance studio, and multi-purpose room, locker
and dressing rooms, climbing walls and equipment checkout at the operation
center.
The
Student Rec Center provides various aerobics and fitness classes taught by
certified instructors, classes include step, yoga, and kickboxing.
Over 30 intramural sports are offered each year that consists of
competitions and tournaments held at the Rec Center and the outdoor field
complex. Many club sports also
exist on campus to offer students another level of competition and skill
development. Several of these
include volleyball, lacrosse, wrestling, and men’s soccer.
Students interested in outdoor activities can rent canoes, camping,
climbing, and exploring equipment from the Rec Center’s outdoor shop.
