Mission Statement for Academic Advising
created by the Professional Advisor Team (PAT)

The goal of the Academic Advising Centers at Southeast Missouri State University is to provide accurate and appropriate degree information in a timely manner that will lead to enrollment in a schedule of classes that supports the goals of the student while meeting degree requirements.

In addition, the Advising Centers 

• Serve as the central point of contact for students requesting information about academic programs
• Serve the academic community as a knowledgeable body on matters of student advisement and advising policy
• Assist in understanding of academic requirements and planning of appropriate schedule of classes
• Enhance student awareness of educational and support services available on campus
• Assist students in achieving academic goals
• Strive to improve advising services for students at Southeast Missouri State University by providing training opportunities to faculty advisors
