  Early Childhood Block
  The Early Childhood block should be taken before block III .  The courses needed for this block are shown below and  are also on your curriculum sheet  received during advising.  Classes for the Early Childhood block are not controlled and can be accessed through  the Southeast Homepage at MY SOUTHEAST for enrollment on your day.

  Exceptional Child Block IIIA for exceptional child majors and for those grandfathered in on EXC CHILD concentrations. The exc child concentration is no longer an option unless declared before fall, 2005.   The exceptional child block IIIA should be taken After  block III if possible..  You may enroll for this block by accessing it through MY SOUTHEAST on your enrollment date. The classes in block IIIA are not controlled.

  Some items to remember for which you are responsible:
  
  1. 120 hours are required for graduation.  This means degree hours only so you cannot count MA090,  MA095 or EN099 toward the 120 hours needed toward graduation. Just because you complete all major requirements does not necessarily mean you have the 120 hours to graduate.  Electives for a few concentrations could be possible.
  
  2. If you are on a scholarship only you can determine the hours needed for your scholarship requirements. Scholarship requirements vary so the advisor has no way of determining your needs. This is your responsibility.
  
   3. You should apply for graduation on the day you enroll for your last semester of classes. This can be done at the registrar's office or online. It cannot be done until your enrollment for your last semester of classes.

  4. Block IV is handled through field experiences. They will take care of all of your enrollment in student teaching and the TWS project.

  I will assume the rest of my advisement without having to meet with an advisor.  I understand I must complete WP003 (writing exam after 75 hours of credit) (enroll for WP003 just as I do for any other class)  and pass the Praxis II for my major which is required for a teaching certificate.( The Praxis is no longer required for graduation but your degree will be of little value without a teaching certificate.)  I must also take the California Critical Thinking Test (needed after 75 hours) California Critical Thinking Skills Test (click this link to the  registration for this ---you may need to wait for this to load) and any other departmental requirements such as my portfolio or Teacher Work Sampling and CL 001, 002, 003 and 004 if required.  This is in addition to the professional blocks, other courses in my major and the maintenance of a 2.5 gpa.  I also understand that at some point I must pass a criminal background check that the Field Experiences office will have in the student teaching packet prior to student teaching.  I have read this info and will assume the responsibility for my own advising and consequently if I make a mistake I am the one responsible.  I hereby give Dr. Huskey permission to release my advising hold permanently.  You will receive a confirmation from me in the next few days. Please do not request your ALT PIN until you have been confirmed by an email from me.  I also understand that even if I submit this which is recommened by Dr. H  I can still schedule an appointment to go over what I still need. This just serves as a spot check to let me know and Dr. Huskey know we have the same expectations for graduation.
