Speech-Language Clinic
|
Southeast Missouri State University Speech-Language ClinicThe speech-language clinic provides evaluation and treatment of speech-language disorders for individuals of all ages from infants to senior citizens. Individual and group services are offered. Most clients typically attend 2 days per week for 50 minutes per session, dependent upon their individual needs. Some clients come to the clinic solely for their therapy and evaluations, while others come to our clinic to supplement services they are receiving elsewhere. The clinic provides services for a full range of speech and language disorders. Also, The clinic provides accent modification sessions and language groups for English as Second Language Speakers. The speech-language clinic is part of an academic training program and, typically, students are involved in the provision of services. Students who work directly with clients are majors in the Department of Communication Disorders and have completed major courses that are prerequisite to the clinical practicum. All student clinicians are either senior undergraduate or graduate students. Students are assigned to clients based on their academic coursework and level of experience. Faculty members of the Department of Communication Disorders closely supervise students. All faculty are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Missouri State Board of Healing Arts. |
