  2. Program description:
    Any middle school student that is at risk of failing in school is referred to the student assist team. There is a variety of reasons that the student may be at risk of failing: It could be their home life; there could be physical issues mental issues; drug or alcohol use may be involved; pregnancy may be a concern; etc. The team is made up of the school counselor, school social worker, principal, school nurse, special services coordinator, and at risk teacher (if the school provides one). The students can be referred by any of the team members or any teacher. The team reviews the referral and decides what necessary action needs to be taken in order to help that student. The team follows up on each case.
