CJ100 Introduction to Criminal Justice:
General survey of federal, state, and local agencies involved in the administration of justice including
police, courts, and corrections. This is the prerequisite for all other criminal justice coursework.
CJ110 Introduction to Law Enforcement:
Philosophy, history and problems of law enforcement; organization and jurisdiction of local, state and
federal law enforcement agencies will be examined.
CJ125 Introduction to Corrections:
Introduces students to problems and the diversity of emphasis being placed on correctional programs.
CJ220 Criminal Law:
Examines substantive law, classification of offenses and matters that affect criminal responsibility.
CJ230 Correctional Institutions:
Study of prisons and other correctional institutions. Traces the history, development, types, objectives
and organizations and administration of penal systems.
CJ310 Advanced Police Administration:
Supervision and personnel management practices applied within the law enforcement agencies, first line supervision
and middle management in police agencies.
CJ325 Security Systems:
The role of security and the security industry in criminal justice; physical aspects of the security field;
loss prevention in proprietary and governmental institutions; variations in physical security systems.
CJ326 Security and Loss Prevention:
Operation of loss prevention, assets protection programs in business, industry, government and institutions;
emphasis on theft control, employee dishonesty, shoplifting and fire protection.
CJ327 Security Management:
The organization and management of security units in industry, government, business, institutions; the protection of
manpower, facilities and other assets; administrative, legal and technical issues.
CJ330 Criminal Investigations:
Examination of techniques employed in the investigation of crimes and the professional application of these techniques.
CJ335 Police Operations:
An examination of the operational components of contemporary police organizations. Examines the development of
operational goals and objectives, development of programs and applicability of research findings to strategies.
CJ355 Constitutional Rights of Inmates:
An analysis of the rights of prisoners as guaranteed by the Constitution and interpreted through specific cases.
CJ365 Community Based Corrections:
Study of group homes, work release programs, half-way houses, work-study projects and other community based programs.
CJ370 Juvenile Justice:
Designed to acquaint students with the problems of dealing with juveniles in the criminal justice system.
CJ375 Criminal Typologies and Victimology:
A survey of criminal and victim behavior patterns and subtypes for specific crimes, including personality and
social characteristics, motivations, and methods and techniques.
CJ422Criminal Procedure:
Survey of the legal aspects of criminal procedure from arrest through appeal. Focuses on the laws of arrest,
search and seizure and interrogation.
CJ425 Planning and Research in Criminal Justice:
Role and scope of planning and research in criminal justice organizations is examined.
CJ435 Seminar:
Examines major problems currently facing the system. Discussion of proposed solutions to the problems identified.
CJ440 Theories and Methods of Offender Rehabilitation:
Analysis and evaluation of current theories and methods of treatment and classification in the correctional environment.

Practical experience with field agencies.
