Department of Public Safety
University Police
The University Police Department is open 24 hours a day providing police services seven days a week. The Police
Department operates three shifts working both foot patrols and vehicle patrol throughout campus. The Department
operates a 24 hour Communication Unit. A communication officer receives all incoming telephone calls and
coordinates all radio traffic. The communication unit dispatches Police Officers to locations on campus to answer
calls for service and to personally meet with victims to make reports of crime.
Parking and Transit
The Department of Public Safety, Parking Services Unit has the responsibility of issuing parking permits, enforcing the
rules and regulations for parking, coordinating the shuttle schedules for transit services and assisting patrons
with questions they may have regarding parking at Southeast Missouri State University.
Campus Emergency Preparedness Plan
This Emergency Procedure Guide has been designed to provide a basic contingency manual for the University Administration
in order to plan for campus emergencies. While this guide does not cover every conceivable situation, it does
supply the basic administrative structure and guidelines necessary to cope with most campus emergencies.
Campus Crime Statistics
Crime statistics are published annually and cover the previous three calendar years. The statistics include not only
those crimes reported to the Department of Public Safety, but also those crimes reported to any Campus Security
Authority, (i.e. Student Judicial Affairs, and other University academic departments with significant
responsibility for student and campus activities).
