All University parking regulations are enforced 24 hours per day, every day. Parking Services employees student ticket writers who assist Patrol Officers between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday in parking enforcement. The Department of Public Safety’s Patrol Unit provides the remaining enforcement.

The speed limit on campus is 15 miles per hour, except where otherwise posted. Gray concrete parking blocks represent parking spaces in gravel parking lots. Yellow parking blocks are "No Parking" zones. Red curbs indicate fire lanes.

Parking Services provides bicycle racks at academic buildings and residence halls for patron use. Bicycles shall not be operated on sidewalks, walkways, lawns or any other area not accessible to motor vehicles. Bicycles must not be taken into any building other than the owner’s dormitory room. Bicycles should be locked in bicycle racks. They should not be leaned against or locked to trees, shrubs, bushes, or other features of University landscape or in any way that will interfere with pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

Traffic gates are installed to restrict general traffic from specific areas of the Transit Way and other campus service drives. Unauthorized access through a traffic gate, or unauthorized attempts to gain access through a traffic gate, is prohibited. Transit Ways are restricted to University shuttle buses, emergency vehicles and University service vehicles. Transit Ways restricted by signs without gates are not accessible to general traffic. Tickets, Boots, Tows and/or Notices to Appear will be issued for unauthorized driving on the Transit Way.

REGULATIONS CHANGE

Changes in the University Parking Regulations will be officially announced in University media and will become effective the date of the announcement. Any recommendations regarding changes may be referred to the Director of the Department of Public Safety.

OFF-CAMPUS PARKING REGULATION

Cape Girardeau Police Department has received many inquiries from Southeast students about parking ordinances relating to off-campus parking. Therefore, we listed partially the parking regulation of Cape Girardeau:

Parking is Prohibited

1. Within 5 feet each direction of a private driveway 26-246(1)k.
2. Within 10 feet each direction from any mailbox driveway 26-246(1)j.
3. Within 15 feet each direction from any fire hydrant 26-246(2)b.
4. Within 20 feet of a crosswalk 26246(2)c.
5. Within 20 feet of an intersection of two or more streets 26-246(1)m.
6. Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop sign or traffic control device located at the side of the roadway 26-246(2)d.
7. Within 8 feet of the entrance to an alley 26-246(1)K.
8. Parking with right wheels more than 18 inches from the right-hand curb (two-way street) 26-250(a).
9. Parking with left wheels within 12 inches of the paved portion of the roadway on non-curbed streets (you must be at least 12 inches off of the paved portion of the roadway of streets without curbs) 26-250(b).
10. In front, residential yard in a place other than in driveway (off-street) 26-261.
