Southeast Missouri State University: Department of English

Acknowledging that effective communication skills are paramount not only for the successful college student but also for the successful job candidate, the Department of English provides sequenced instruction in composition and English for speakers of other languages. Incoming first-year students are placed in the appropriate class for their level of preparation, and build upon their communication skills by proceeding through the sequence of classes.
