Program
Elementary, Early
Childhood, Middle School and some secondary majors complete a full
year of teaching as the primary instructor in a classroom in the
Kansas City, Missouri School District or a charter school
Mentor support: A
full-time teacher from the Kansas City, Missouri School District or
charter school will serve as a mentor for two student teachers.
Student will receive
credit fro student teaching
during the first half of the year, and will then
continue teaching the same class in the spring.
A university
supervisor will schedule regular observations and provide
feedback. These visits will occur at least once a week.
The supervisor also
will conduct weekly seminars
with all Kansas City teaching interns.
Who's eligible?
Elementary, Early
Childhood, Middle School and a limited number of secondary majors.
Must be ready to
begin student teaching in the fall of each academic year.
Must agree to
teach an additional year in the school in which you completed your
internship.
Must be approved
through the application process.

The
Details
Students will live in
the Loretto, an apartment complex at 1111 W. 39th street in Kansas
city, MO.
Weekly seminars with
a university supervisor will be conducted in the apartment building.

program, student will have earned one year of credit for teaching
